We are transforming
Helping Together, Sharing
The most fertile living spaces in nature occur thanks to the diversity of living species and their organization in ways that provide multiple benefits to each other. We too can transform towards a more abundant life by supporting each other.
We start transforming our lives with work that will directly benefit us first. Access to clean food is becoming more and more important for our health. We organise to produce our own food and/or access clean food.
In cities, we can establish food-producing gardens on balconies, terraces, in a wooden crate on concrete, wherever we can find soil. Gardening is one of the most value-added jobs we can do. We can turn kitchen waste into compost fertiliser and grow plants with the compost we produce ourselves. We can produce food in completely natural ways without using chemicals and poisons. We explain natural food production with gardening trainings.
Thanks to gardening, we get to know the soil, we learn to produce living, fertile soil. With the knowledge and skills of growing plants, we begin to understand the functioning of nature.
Knowing and being able to produce your own natural food is especially important in difficult times. In countries such as Cuba and Greece, which are going through serious economic crises, people's nutrition is also seriously affected as livelihood difficulties grow. Those who have access to land can at least produce some of their own food and support their nutrition and even earn significant income.
Gardens are being established in schools. Reaching young people is important - they are the future, but unfortunately they are inheriting a difficult future. The earth's balance and cycles are changing rapidly due to human activity and life will become increasingly difficult in the near future. It is important to increase the life knowledge and skills of young people. Permaculture clubs and gardens were established in schools with a series of studies initiated 5 years ago with 10+ schools in Istanbul. Schools from different parts of the country are also participating in these studies.
We are establishing local 'community gardens' in partnership with municipalities. In a locally endowed land, local people come together in community gardens to grow their own natural food. Children coming from kindergartens and schools in the neighbourhood plant seeds in the soil in their own areas, observe how the seeds turn into plants, collect and eat the products. Retired aunts and uncles spend their free time in the gardens, moving, doing useful work and producing food for themselves.
Municipalities are establishing ecoparks as a social service. In ecoparks, many examples are shown, training and studies are carried out: soil revitalisation, water retention, clean energy examples, natural gardening, natural animal husbandry, recycling, natural structures, value-added natural food production...
The eco-farms established in the countryside grow natural products on their own land and support the transformation of other producers around them into natural food production. The farms establish various ties among themselves: sharing knowledge, skills, products.
We are building eco-campuses at different scales to accelerate transformation. Thanks to small ecoparks established on 1-2 acres in cities, we can reach a large number of people in different ways:
-
A pleasant natural area where you can get away from the stress of the city. Take a rest.
-
You can eat natural healthy food in our ecocafe.
-
You can produce your own natural food in our community garden
-
You can attend our gardening courses and get informed
-
Examples of balcony, terrace gardening
-
By becoming a member of our clean food community, you can deliver natural food to your kitchen and support those who produce natural food in rural areas. Since there is no intermediary, you can get natural products at reasonable prices.
-
You can examine the publications on sustainable living in our library.
-
You can follow the activities we organise at various times: bread, cheese making, etc. workshops, sustainable life courses, village markets, festivals, bazaars...
It is important to create examples of successful eco-campuses because people who see these examples realise that a different way of living is possible and that they can take steps to transform their lives. In this way, more and more people start to transform their own lives as much as possible.
